Biodegradable Floating Lanterns

Lantern floating has it’s roots in Japanese Buddhist tradition but this ceremony is meant for all. Anyone can participate and observe. The intent of the ceremony is to remember our loved ones who have passed away and bring people together.

Create your own lantern festival with family and friends.  Be sure to clear this with proper authorities.  There are several versions of these lanterns, most can be found on Amazon.

Ask each person to write something on his/her lantern to commemorate the light that was brought into this world because of ________'s life.  Each person could share what they have written and why.  Then play music as everyone sets their lantern into the water and collectively watch the lights float.
